IN-SNEC
IN-SNEC was part of my school curriculum as a host company during my alternating vocational training for my BTS (Advanced Technician’s Certificate).
I discovered the professional world there and participated in the daily life of the IT department.
My major project during these two years was the study and design of a document management application intended to replace an obsolete one. Initially, I conducted feasibility tests for migrating a Sybase 9 database to PostgreSQL. Once these tests were completed and approved, I analyzed the requirements and constraints to establish a specification document as precise as possible. The strongest constraint was the need for compatibility with Windows NT4 systems (and therefore Internet Explorer 4.3).
Next, I designed and developed the application, based on a web interface.
The final step was creating documentation for the company’s users.
The application was primarily intended for IN-SNEC’s “quality” department. It was developed in direct collaboration with members of this department regarding functionalities and user interface design. The rest of the work was done with almost complete autonomy.
Technologies used were :
- php (The old fashion way)
- PostgresQL for the database
- HTML-CSS for the interface with AJAX (IE4.3 compatible. Yes it is possible !)
- Bash for migrations scripts and Installations scripts
- Word for the user guide and Administrator guide
- Linux for the system (Debian 3 sarge)
